Reflect Light

"How sad it is not to have any motivation or reason to get up in the morning. We need motivation to make us move. Motivation helps us face the day with a positive attitude. It keeps our head upright. Elevates our consciousness.

Your house reflects who you are. It reflects your light. I believe that if we ignite the light in someone else, they in turn will ignite it in someone else. Maybe we really can make a difference? Light gets through the smallest openings; through doors, blinds, fog, darkness, and hearts."

The Art Of Seeing

"Our lives are only dark because we can’t see the light. Often times, it’s only a switch on the wall, or a switch in our consciousness to help brighten our living space - the space our Soul calls home.

We have to partake in the art of seeing. We can’t let darkness obstruct our vision. If we can’t see where we’re going, we wind up going in circles, staying in one place or bouncing off the walls."

hurting them,

Deathbed

"It's funny how on our deathbed,
we are the way we
should be everyday.
While our life slips away,
we make sure we tell
the people we love
how much they mean to us
and not to make the same
mistakes we made.
Those same people who have
waited for years to hear
what is being said
and who may have even given up
on hearing it altogether.
Don't wait until the end of your life
to tell them you love them.
They want to hear it now.
They want to feel it.
They want to reel it.
They want to run with it.
They want to fly with it.
They want to live with it.
They want to give with it.
They want to die with it.
They want to reverberate.
What we take from our deathbed
is what we should take from life,
exalting moments
blazed across our memory
and etched into the stars."

House Of Cards

"Life is a house of cards. We spend a lot of time building it, making it stand to withstand the elements, fortifying the structure, constructing it deeper, wider and higher. Then with the snap of a finger, it comes tumbling down. You have to decide how to scrape yourself off and reconstruct or stay six feet underground. Life is a delicate balance of getting in muddy waters and washing ourselves off. Life is about standing and life is about falling and at no time shall we just sit back and take it. We're either standing or falling, there is no in between."

Test Driven

"We are all being test driven daily by everyone around us. There are times when we feel that we are at our wits end, when we are vulnerable and other people can sense it. That’s when they will come in for the kill.

Those are the times when we have to put up our shield. We have to protect ourselves because there is always someone waiting to tear us down if we let them.

There's always someone willing to take advantage. We have to know when to put on the brakes and stop the behavior. We have to know when to walk way.

We have to know when enough is enough. And the way we gauge that is to know that when we don’t feel good about a situation, then it’s probably not good for us. Don’t be afraid to say, 'Stop.'”

Aim And Let Go

"Life is like archery. The same principles apply. We have to have a target. We have to have aim. We have to shoot for the target. We have to hit the target.

Even if we don’t hit the target right away, life teaches us our stance, our aim, how to conduct ourselves, when to raise our bow, when to draw and when to retreat.

We have to focus, steady and aim. To go through life without knowing where we’re going is like a bowless archer unable to hit the target. We have to have goals.

We must set our sight on the target, aim and let go. We must follow the arrow as it passes from our mind to the goal, our hand to the target, our heart to our Soul."

We are pinned under a wheel of hurt; a Catherine Wheel of sorts, laying in excruciating pain with squashed limbs while our living remains are threaded through spokes and pole hoisted into the air for vultures and crows to feast.

We have to cry. It’s therapeutic, cathartic, a release of emotional density, chemicals and hormones that have built up in our brain over time. The chemicals and hormones disappear from our body through the form of tears, soothing our sadness or distress by withdrawing these chemical agents. Crying is a stoppage of emotional erosion that can spill over into spiritual inadequacy."

Dreamality

"When you ask me to name five things I want to be when I grow up, I have to pause because I will never grow up. Growing up means that life is over in a sense, that I can’t do things that I find enjoyable because of time or commitment constraints. So I will rephrase it to five things I am doing or will do in the future to enhance my life and those around me.

Dreams are important and the key to my existence. I am living my dreams. I am living them in my head, my heart, my consciousness and my Soul. In fact, my name for a dream is a “dreamality.” Partly because people think dreams are unattainable and the other part is because if we think dreams are possible, we can dream them into reality."

Short Circuit

"Something happened in that moment. Bells went off, lights blinked, life stood on it's hind legs. We actually made a connection. One of those genuine moments that you never forget. He made eye contact, smiled and was very open and responsive to my greeting. Anytime I make a connection with a Soul, it’s a success. Anytime we stop and acknowledge another person, it’s spreading the love and letting everything good in us merge with everything good in someone else.

I think we have modules of merit, kindness, compassion and humility inside of us to corroborate our spiritual bounty, but they are often short-circuited by desire for wealth, corporeality, greed and extravagance - - and we’ll do anything to get them, including cutting the throat of our fellow man to gain dominion over him."

My Exploding Head

"Sometimes I try to trick my brain into thinking it is dormant, but I know it’s not. I know for every reason I say to it, “stop working, turn off, go to sleep now,” it has a thousand other reasons to continue thinking, to stay on full tilt - - whether I like it or not.

So when I think I’m tired of firing salvos into the abyss, my eyes flitter as they follow the curve of the smoke from the artillery shells, watching them ricochet off the falling stars.

My brain doesn’t flinch as it cranks up and starts more verbose evacuation. I am a glutton for punishment as my brain puts me under the gun and instead of screaming, “Stop,” I scream, “More. Always keep learning, growing, and evolving. That’s what mind the gap is to me. Minding the ability to fill the void with life.

Destiny Architects

"Life is about leadership. Life comes from seeds and seeds come from life. We lead by example. Something inside us sparks the initial thought, which leads to action, fueled by passion and wrought with desire, determination and a willingness to fail.

Most great leaders won’t tell you that they have had plenty of failures on their journeys to greatness. Abraham Lincoln being one of the most famous failures. He has had enough failures to fill an ocean. That’s one reason motivational speakers use him as an example. Failure is a tool to success.

When you look at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. you don’t think, “Oh, what a failure.” You think, “Oh, what a monument.” That’s what leadership is - - monumental thinking - - monumental action - - monumental passion. Monumental movement moves mountains. Monumentality instills purpose.

We are the architects of our own destiny. Purveyors of decree, not once questioning our raison d'etre. We lay the groundwork, build pillars, and construct beams across uncharted blue skies - - eagle-eyeing the azure, indigo and cobalt that leads to the twilight of stars."

Sweet Cacophony

"We are constantly surrounded by sounds. Traffic -- radios -- televisions -- keyboards -- airplanes -- construction -- office machines -- elevators -- appliances, there is always something that chimes, hums, buzzes or dings.

Not to mention some people never stop talking - - Ever! I must say, I used to find these sounds so annoying, especially car alarms. The cacophony used to bring so much stress to my ears, then I thought, wait a minute, God devised all of these sounds and if God devised them they can’t be that bad.

I changed the way I heard these sounds. The moment I told myself that they weren’t annoying, they became softer, gentler and less stress to my hearing.

Now every time I hear them, I can’t help but to think, that’s just God moving through the universe."

Glass Eyes

"Photographs don't represent who we are, they are merely an image of an illusion. Photographs are counterfeits, not the real thing. They’re fakes, phantoms. I am not fake, I am genuine, that’s one reason I don’t like photographs. They’re just not me.

We are not a face. We are not a body. We are a concert of atoms and molecules held together by a chord that ties us all together. We are Soul swimming to freedom greeted by the eternal lifeguard who transports us home to the pinnacle of existence. That’s a much better pedigree than a face on glossy photo paper.

We only occupy this physical space to evolve into a non physical space. Spirituality is the tangible intangible. We can see it in the actions of others. We can feel it in words of love, kindness and thoughtfulness that touch us on the deepest level. All of those things stay with us longer than a photograph. A photograph can only be seen from the outside, spirituality can be seen from everywhere."

Curves Ahead

"Not only do we have to look ahead of the curve, but we have to roll through them with the least amount of damage. By rolling through them, we prepare ourselves for the unexpected, the unseen and the uncharted.

Sometimes, no matter how much we prepare, we can’t rehearse how we’re going to react to certain situations. Our reactions can vary from moment to moment. The second an obstacle gets in our way, we can either stop completely or go around it.

Looking ahead of the curve improves our driving and overall skills to negotiate stress, disappointment, or pain. We have to look ahead of the curve as baggage flies through our rear window. If we keep looking from side to side, or in our rear view mirror with regret, we don’t see the joy that is now and around the corner."

Negativity Versus Will

Negativity adds another layer of pressure to achievement. Along with everything associated with our goals, the little voice in our head says, 'If so and so says I can’t do it, then they must be right. I should just give up now.'

If it is that easy to give up your goals, then you’re probably not serious enough to pursue them in the first place. Negativity is the resistance -- you are the immovable force. Who will win the battle of wills? "

"Though life is not like a box of chocolate, it is like a screenplay. We have series of events where we feel we are up against the wall and we have to find our resolve. We have to rely on our ingenuity to propel us through the situation unscathed. If we develop a strong resolve, we are satisfied knowing that we did the best we could. Like in a film, a strong resolution leaves us feeling satiated.

So I sit here in this unyielding library chair rolling with it while I transcribe notes that were fired up in darkness. I pause to peruse my mental dictation, hoping not to produce verbigeration in trying to make sense of this technology conundrum.

Ah, the keyboard doth bring me solace in a blogtastical harmony. I think people have stopped having enthusiasm for life. They have stopped enjoying the moment. They have been put to sleep by a life less than perfect. A life that they are not willing to work. Rain has fallen on their dreams and they have abandoned them in puddles on the side of the road. Let’s go deep for once. Break the surface. Wake the silence. Spark the darkness. Get to the root. Open up to people. Release your inner prophet."

Vacancy

"You can see it in their eyes. The vacancy. Dispiritedness. Deadly silence speaking volumes. People mouthing the words of loneliness. Walking through the shadow of their lives. Souls that are AWOL, pulled along like hollow husks on an invisible track connected to nowhere and nobody.

Even in a supermarket when we are shopping, do we bother to speak to people -- people in the flesh, not on the other end of that little electronic mishap that’s responsible for reducing people to a decibel controlled by a translucent volume button -- or even worse -- a God awful ringtone.

That’s the whole problem in a nutshell. We are adept at cell phoning, text-messaging and I-M-ing our BFF, but not E-Moting or honing our antiquated communciation skills -- the ones before the technolgy revolution short-circuited our evolution.

We are a world of bumper car drivers who are resigned to jolt others but not feel them. We don’t want to get out of our cars for fear of being left behind. By bumping into each other, we push each other away, instead of embracing each other and holding them close.

I am convinced that there are millions of Souls in the universe trying to connect. Trying to intermingle their energies into each other to get that unspeakable communion of Soul and connect with a supreme force."

Shrapnel

"Some people walk around with the pain of a thousand lifetimes from spiritual wars long before this lifetime. They can’t seem to dislodge the shrapnel from their Soul. They spiral into the black hole depression. A darkness so black that they don’t see any other color. A billowy smoke that chokes the life out of them. A hole so abysmal that they can’t climb out. An unfathomable weight on their consciousness.

When we try to hang on to them for comfort, they cause distress. Pain is God telling us to opens our hands and let go. It’s in the letting go that we reclaim our lives and reignite the fire in our Soul. Embracing the pain liberates your very essence and fills you with the satisfaction that you are evolving at a personalized rate of speed for your consciousness under the watchful eye of the universe."

Deconstruction

"We watch the assault of humanity with our eagle eyes and recoil at the rancid human destruction, while we choke on the fumes and hold back the tears, crashing into each other like unwilling crash test dummies.

Often times, it is just too much to ingest. All that negative energy. Floating around, looking for something or someone to attach itself to. That energy has to go somewhere, but it doesn’t have to lodge itself into our Soul and deconstruct our Spirit."

God's Time

"Soul is in no hurry to unfold. It doesn’t care if it takes a lifetime or a thousand lifetimes. We will learn exactly what we need to learn and do precisely what we need to do in God’s time. Not thy will, thy will be done.

We're all running the same marathon. It’s called life. We have time to get to the end of the race. If we run around like chickens with our heads cut off, we won’t get anywhere.

So many people try to run the race without pacing themselves and wind up on the side of the road hurt, disappointed, disillusioned and laden with the phrase, “If I had only done this? I could have been somebody great. I could have been a contender.”

What happens if you stop short of the finish line? What happens if you get off of your path to glory? You miss out on self-illumination. Afraid of finishing last? It doesn't matter if you finish first or last, you’re not racing against anyone except yourself. All that matters is that you finish."

Gawkers

"We are a culture of watchers. We watch everything. We gawk at it with our mouths open. We point to it. We pick at it. We make it bleed and the blood never runs dry. It suspends our disbelief.

We know more about Paris Hilton's lack of discretion (and a camera lens); Britney Spears' lack of underwear (and hair); Lindsay Lohan's paparazzi-induced demolition derby; Anna Nicole Smith’s oversupply of her baby’s fathers; and Donald Trump firing shots at Rosie O'Donnell and vice versa, until Rosie falls out of view and Trump raises his flag on her cheeks (Yes those cheeks.)

We know more about these people whom we have never met and probably won’t ever know on a personal level than we do about our own families. And that’s not a good thing. Sure we engage in the folly of the celebrity for fun, but when it replaces real news then there’s a problem.

It’s about finding your place in society, feeling like you’re a part of it all. Fitting in by not fitting in. It’s finding your own spectacular moment. The defining moment when you make a connection with something greater than yourself. When you feel there’s a greater force pulling the strings, shaking the trees, moving the clouds and realigning your consciousness."

Word For Word

"Unfortunately it’s become acceptable to say what you don’t mean and mean what you don’t say. It’s not acceptable to make a promise with no intention of keeping it. It’s not okay to be rude, a liar, or to get someone’s hopes up just to shatter them.

We have come to accept it like it is no big deal. Well, it is a big deal. If you don’t value your word, nobody else will value it. What’s your word worth? Your word should be worth more than gold, worth more than all the money in the world. Priceless, not worthless. Your word is a contract."

Window Clinger

"A joyeur is a watcher. Someone who watches through the window of life, never going outside. A joyeur is a sideliner. Someone who waits on the sidelines watching the joy in life. They live vicariously.

A joyeur dangles lifelessly from a noose of self-doubt, fear, loathing, anger, unhappiness or whatever mental trap they’ve fallen for. The illusion has let them down and they can’t get up or out.

They wish their lives were better but they don’t know how to step across the line and become a participant in their own life. They are stuck in a rut. Boggled in the static that surrounds them."

Long Distance Runners

"When you have a negative thought, it’s fired like a starting pistol, then it’s off and running. All thoughts are good sprinters, but negative thoughts are great long distance runners. By moving all of the negative thoughts out, you will only have room for positive thoughts. Let life work at it’s pace. You can’t hurry the process by pacing. If it is meant for you, nothing will stop it from happening. If it is not meant for you, nothing will make it happen."

Heroism

"We’re so quick to praise a superhero, be it an athlete, actor, model, or anyone famous, when we don’t praise the people in our lives who mean the most to us -- the real superheroes.

The people who help us build our character, nobility and moral fiber, the teachers who inspire and push us to strive, the inner guides that give us confidence, courage and ability to be the best in our fields and to be decent human beings. These are the real heroes.

You can be a superhero just by being the best person you can be right now in this moment. You don’t have to have extraordinary powers, wear a skintight unitard, a mask, fly through the air, leap tall buildings in a single bound, dodge speeding bullets, or have special equipment to get you out of dangerous situations. You have amazing forces deep within your resolve. You can use them at anytime."

Take Me To The River

"So how do we make the most of our heart? Love. Love ‘til your heart’s content. Love ‘til you can feel the river of love flow through you and out into the world. Love ‘til the rocks move from the shore. Love ‘til the stars fall from the sky. Love. All the time. Love even when you feel that you have none. Do it with kindness."

Vehicular

" If you want to see the magic of love. I mean really see the bud of it in an unassuming, unconditional environment, then try this. Declare yourself the vehicle for love. By declaring yourself the vehicle for love, you are declaring yourself open to the vibration of the universe. That’s a powerful statement because you are opening the doors -- many doors to the hearts of others. It’s the connection with others that make us powerful beings."

Recharge

"If we spend so much time being the light for others and not replenishing ourselves, then we will be in darkness. If we want to shine our brightest, then we have to know when to recharge ourselves. There is really nothing we can do for anyone, including ourselves if we burn ourselves out. Just like we are powerless in power outages, the same is true for spiritual power."

Walk Softly

"We live in a society where men especially are afraid to be tender. Afraid to cry. Afraid to have feelings because they look at feelings as weakness. Though we know that’s nonsense, that still doesn’t stop many men from posturing or peacocking.

As we mature, we construct steel barriers to protect ourselves, but in the process we become hard, jaded, angry, unhappy and hurtful when situations don’t go our way.

We lose focus and we no longer keep our eyes forward. Situations that leave a bad taste in our mouths can find their way down to our hearts. That’s when we begin to close off and retreat into a world of darkness. However, we can reverse the process.

When we feel that we are going into a dark moment, we can remember the moments that we felt love and tenderness. The times when we were taught something new. When we learned how to fly. Not to forget the people who touched our hearts. We can’t deny ourselves tenderness. It can save our heart."

Buckle Up

"We are all exactly where we should be at this exact moment and there is nothing wrong with it. It is exactly where God has navigated us. Explorers map the earth, astronomers map the heavens, geneticists map chromosomes, we map our hearts and God maps our Souls.

We have performed incredible tasks. We may not realize it, but in some way or another, we have crossed landmines, driven through roadblocks, made wrong turns, survived quick sand, climbed mountains, been up a creek without a paddle, swam through sharks -- everything a spiritual adventure affords us.

Though times make us exhausted and make us want to quit, we emerge unscathed; unless we count a few superficial scratches and a little emotional bruising. The spiritual battle is worth the fight -- and worth the glory."

Portraying Lies

"Men are portrayed as superheroes, princes, warriors, super cool spies, gods, and handsome billionaires, while women are portrayed as witches who have to cast spell on men to get them to love them, (Practical Magic) conniving bisexual icepick-toting criminals without underwear (Basic Instinct) and weak relationship junkies who will do anything, including prostitution (Pretty Woman) to get a man.

Films such as, Bridget Jones’s Diary, My Best Friend’s Wedding, What Women Want, The Wedding Planner, Someone Like You, Runaway Bride and others fuse a woman’s insecurities until she detonates in a string of bad relationships that sabotage her ultimate happiness. Films like these do more damage than good to a woman’s psyche, ego, self-esteem, self-respect and self-worth."

Blindspots

"We all have blind spots from time to time. Ironically, we often see them in others before we see them in ourselves.

I’ve always felt that there were eyes watching me. Eyes that need no invitation. Eyes that emanate warmth and kindness. Eyes that remind me of my past. Eyes that guide me to my future. Eyes that said nothing, but said it all. Eyes of resplendent glory and faith. Eyes of the invisible that became very clear.

I do know that we are more susceptible to blind spots when we are overburdened. We can decrease our blind spots by becoming more aware of their existence. By becoming aware of another set of eyes."

Changing Reality

"Our reality can change when our perception does. We are always redefining our lives through our perception and that's the beauty of evolving. We grow, we learn, we grow again, we learn again. How many times does a snake shed its skin? How many times do we redecorate our thinking? Our personal evolution begins in the epicenter of our consciousness shaking us, waking us and opening the earth of knowingness."

Inner Most

"Human love has it’s limitations, limited to what resides in our human consciousness, but sometimes it surprises me. The purest love comes from that source within everyone that connects us to our ultimate source; the place where love is cultivated. We have a choice whether to love ourselves or not. Whether to suffer the pains that enslave our spirit or gracefully traverse through the bad experiences and hold on to good ones. Any way you look at it, it’s the amount of experiences -- good or bad -- that fossilize our experience with our inner most being."

A Clearing House

"Your passion is what keeps you alive -- and what makes you feel alive. It’s inside you waiting for every opportunity to come out and let you shine. If it doesn’t come out, it too will die prematurely. You want it to come out. You want it to breathe life into you. You need it to live your best life. You need it to be happy.

Blogging is just one way to encourage your passion by talking about it. It creates an electronic record in the universe, an acceptance of your gifts, an acknowledgment that your passion is being nurtured.

Passion takes discipline. Courage. Will. Determination. Planning. A Boeing 747s wingspan is longer than the Wright brother's first flight, but the Wright brothers planned their flight longer than it took the wingspan to be built.

Blogging helps blueprint your life. Blogging is a clearing house of thoughts. Thoughts that may go unheard if they don’t have an outlet. It’s internet therapy."

Movement Of Time

"The watchmaker makes the watch. He makes time and you watch time. Wouldn’t you rather make time instead of watching it? A movement in watchmaking is the mechanism that measures the passage of time. The way we move in life also measures the passage of time, but it doesn’t tell us which direction to go. The movement is in (or on) our hands."
