Wired Man

"Man attempts to outthink creation by rewiring and rerouting our spiritual circuitry. We are tantalized by wires connected to outside stimuli and distracted by colorful pictures and
plethoric sounds knocking our consciousness into oblivion.

More importance is placed on technological connection rather than human connection. Sooner than not, we will be wired to an electronic cable extended from the sky and pulled to a destiny determined by a satellite. We will be devoid of spirit and full of tangled multi-colored wires delicately choking our sense of existence. Can we really shed this mortal coil with the push of a button or is it another obstacle from getting to know ourselves?"

Chokehold

"Every time I mention that technology is making us torpid, it doesn’t challenge me; it chuckles in silence before it strikes out. I have been hoping for a way to wipe that smirk off of it’s face, or at least find a device that will do it for me, but it just keeps chortling while it tightens its grip around my neck and watches me squirm in a chokehold."

Technology Has A Gun

"Technology is a paradox. It is something we can take with us, but not take with us. It is something that we need, yet something we don’t need.
Technology is a gunman pointing his weapon at us and not afraid to shoot. When it says, "Jump," we say, "How high." It is a slave master that whips us into submission, makes us drop to our knees and beg for more. We don’t even know why we need it, we just want it."

The Noose

"It is vital for each of us to be fully
engaged in life and not to be
attached to some electronic device
hanging from our ears,
hands, or necks like
a technology noose."

Remote Controls

"I have always maintained that technology makes us lazy. In my mind, the remote control started what has been the demise of our desire or ability to actually get up from our comfortable positions, walk to the TV and change the channel.

We are so used to the remote doing our leg work with such swift precision that we would not know what to do if it were ever disabled. Yes we would -- pound it on our thighs until it works again or utters it’s last breath and causes us to get up and change the batteries -- or use the spare remote strapped to our ankle."

Fiber Optics

"Though life is not like a box of chocolate, it is like a screenplay. We have series of events where we feel we are up against the wall and we have to find our resolve. We have to rely on our ingenuity to propel us through the situation unscathed. If we develop a strong resolve, we are satisfied knowing that we did the best we could. Like in a film, a strong resolution leaves us feeling satiated.

So I sit here in this unyielding library chair rolling with it while I transcribe notes that were fired up in darkness. I pause to peruse my mental dictation, hoping not to produce verbigeration in trying to make sense of this technology conundrum.

Ah, the keyboard doth bring me solace in a blogtastical harmony. I’m not reliant on locked and loaded fiber optics hyperactively converting light to electricity and firing through the wires to assemble clear voices, ambient resonance and crisp HD spitting images in millions of colors and sizes. While it’s true, one’s sighs fits all, I am resigned to sit here as long as it takes to splash these words onto this screen with a song in my heart.

Your Inner Prophet

"Technology aside, I think we are in the middle of a communication crisis. It seems to be very difficult for people to make contact and those fortunate ones who make contact can’t seem to keep it. They lack the skills to maintain a conversation and they are left to utter Morse code between ellipsis points.

It has got to be something more than an electronic breakdown in the brain. Is it such a stretch to say something inspiring? Profound? Funny? Heartfelt? Real?

I think people have stopped having enthusiasm for life. They have stopped enjoying the moment. They have been put to sleep by a life less than perfect. A life that they are not willing to work. Rain has fallen on their dreams and they have abandoned them in puddles on the side of the road. Let’s go deep for once. Break the surface. Wake the silence. Spark the darkness. Get to the root. Open up to people. Release your inner prophet."

Tech Heads

"More importance is placed on technology because that's where we are headed as a society. Sooner than not we will be wired to an electronic cable extended from the sky and pulled to a destiny determined by technology. We will be devoid of emotional output and full of red and blue wires delicately choking our sense of freedom."

Distraction

"It is a constant challenge to be the best people we can be because we get distracted by minutiae. Although sometimes we may feel inadequate for any reason, we are never inadequate in the eyes of Spirit.

We are all here to be coworkers with each other for a higher purpose. How else can our souls be purified?

Feeling inadequate may be part of the reason why excess has become part of life's premium service. We want life with as many channels as possible. With all the bells and whistles. With as many opportunities to be distracted as possible. In the end, we are only prolonging the agony of defeat with a false thrill of victory.

We are minions for the silver-tongued, shiny tooth salesman who sells us used goods that we don't want or need, all to the soothing sounds of Cha-ching.

As amazing as technology is, it robs us of our sensibilities and fills us with artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners; all the junk that we don't want to eat."
